Then they laid hands on them and they received the Holy Spirit. Acts 8:17
God strengthens our souls through the Sacrament of Confirmation. After the Holy Spirit descended upon the disciples at Pentecost, they began to boldly and fearlessly preach the Good News. They in turn laid hands on others to strengthen them as well.
Through Confirmation we too are strengthened to meet the spiritual challenges of life. The Sacrament of Confirmation completes our Baptismal graces and fully initiates us into the discipleship of Christ and His Church.
Confirmation Preparation for adults is done through the RCIA process.
Confirmation Preparation for our youth:
Past Diocesan policy required that candidates must be at least 16 years old and at least a Junior in High School. The Diocesan Guidelines for Confirmation have changed beginning in 2019. See the announcement below.
Preparation will be two-fold:
1. Candidates are expected to participate in Life Teen on Sunday evenings from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
2. Candidates must attend Confirmation Classes on the first Wednesday of the month from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. With the help and guidance of our parish community, we will review the central beliefs, practices, and values of Catholicism. Confirmation preparation helps us focus on how we can live out our faith in the world today. Those to be confirmed will also participate in a Day of Reflection with the Bishop at the Cathedral in Jefferson City and they will attend a Confirmation Retreat.
Confirmation classes begin each September, with Confirmation to be celebrated in the Spring (date to be determined by the Bishop).
